We strive to listen.

Encyclopedia Jumbie is a meeting place. Our intention is to gather and share perspectives on Afro-Caribbean culture; each new voice expands the circle and enriches the conversation.

Here you will find recordings of song, dance, and stories shared by and for people of the Caribbean. You will not find opinions or critique from any of us on the curatorial team. We hope to dispel the mistaken notion that depth of understanding flows from any single, definitive source.

So, we invite you to listen. If you find our content incomplete, you are absolutely correct. Encyclopedia Jumbie is a growing, imperfect resource and we rely on the guidance of our contributors. The categories you see now only represent the material we have gathered thus far, and will expand with time.

To that end, we invite you to share as well.
